I formed St Gabriel’s badminton club in 1995.

 

It actually came out of the former Queen Mother’s Badminton Club which stopped when Queen Mother’s Sports Centre in Victoria was being refurbished. I was already playing in St Gabriel’s Church Hall.

 

From September 1995, St Gabriel’s Badminton Club has been using St Gabriel’s church hall. There was one other gay badminton club at that time - Goslings which met at the Oasis Sports Centre - with only two courts; I formed St Gabriel’s for the LGBQT+ players who wanted to play more competitively in London.

We'd love to welcome some new players to the club, irrespective of sexual or gender orientation. We even have some players from Manchester!

This year the men's team has the particular challenge of staying in division 1 in Middlesex, having been promoted last season.
